THE CONSUL, OUR 7TH COLLABORATION WITH THE ATELIER LYRIQUE
For the seventh consecutive year, the young singers of The Atelier lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal
are collaborating on their annual production with the National Theatre School of Canada and the
Monument-National. This year, they will perform The Consul,
music and lyrics by Giancarlo Menotti, directed by Oriol Tomas.
The production will be presented from March 5 to 12 at the Monument-National's Ludger-Duvernay Theatre.
Over the years, the School's participation has always consisted of high quality design and production
values for the operas presented by Atelier lyrique. The Consul's sets and costumes have
therefore been designed by
Mylène Chabrol
and
Laurence Mongeau
respectively; both are 2010 graduates of our Set and Costume Design Program. Also participating in this
production are
Émilie Martel
(Assistant Director and Stage Manager),
Francis Hamel
(Lighting Designer)
and J-F Piché
(Technical Director), all 2011 graduates of the French Production Program. Also involved in the
production are over 20 first-, second- and third-year NTS students.

With two well-respected business leaders as the campaign co-chairs, the NTS is poised to reach
its goal of $12 million. Gerry McCaughey, President and CEO of CIBC
has joined with Louis Vachon, President and CEO of Banque Nationale,
to lead the NTS in this Revealing Talent Campaign.
